The Four Types OF AI And How They Can Help Your Business
AI has the potential to transform businesses and make them more efficient. Providing better customer service, creating more personal relationships with their customers, and making better predictions about future events. AI is changing the way we do business and the possibilities are endless.
Four main types of AI have had the biggest influence on the industry so far. Reactive, Limited Memory, Theory Of Mind, and Self Aware. Pushing the boundaries of technology as we know it. Artificial intelligence while complex, has had a major impact on business. From large cooperate entities to small family-owned operations, AI has been influencing the way we do business for the past decade.
AI technology assists humans to interact with computers more naturally, making it possible for machines to do things that ordinarily require human intelligence, such as understanding natural language and recognizing objects.
The question still remains of how do we tackle the complexities of each type of AI?
Reactive Machines
Reactive Machines are the first and simplest form of AI. Reacting to various forms of input data with a reaction-based output. There is no learning that occurs. Reactive machines are typically used in video gaming or other simple applications. Although being the simplest of AI types Reactive output is still a massive leap forward.
Google’s AlphaGo
Go Is considered to be the oldest board game in existence. Its origins can date back almost 4,000 years to as early as 2356 BCE. Go is considered to be an extremely hard game for AI to master because of its sheer amount of variables and moves.
AlphaGo is an AI that was designed by Google DeepMind to play the game of Go. The program made history in March 2016 when it became the first computer program to beat a professional human player at the full-sized game of Go.
IBM’s Deep Blue
Deep Blue was the first computer to beat the world champion of chess. After a several-day match in 1997, Deep Blue won by a score of 3.5 to 2.5.
While Deep Blue was only able to beat the reigning world chess champion, Garry Kasparov, it did show that AI was progressing and could beat humans at complex strategic games.
Reactive Machines For Business
Businesses can use Reactive AI in a number of ways. While this level of AI is not as advanced as the other types, it can still be used to give your business a competitive edge.
Customer service chatbots can be linked to your company’s service database answering simple to more complex questions depending on the customer input. Identifying particular irregularities in data is another useful reactive AI function.
Limited Memory AI
Limited Memory refers to storing previous data and/or predictions, using that data to make better predictions. How this works is the AI will remember past inputs and outputs to better predict what the output should be for a given input.
Several concepts that are now more commonplace include facial recognition, making predictions based on customer data, and self-driving cars.
Amazon Alexa
Alexa uses Limited Memory AI on Amazon’s eCommerce website. When you ask Alexa a question, she will use the data she has stored to answer your question. The more you use Alexa, the more data she will have to work with, and the better she will become at answering your questions.
Apple Siri
Siri is Apple’s AI assistant that uses Limited Memory AI. Like Alexa, Siri gets smarter the more you use the app. She uses the data she has stored to answer questions.
Google Now
Google Now is Google’s version of a digital assistant. It uses Limited Memory AI to provide information that it thinks you might need based on your search history and location.
Limited Memory AI for Business
Businesses use Limited Memory typically in predictive analysis. Processing data mining and artificial intelligence algorithms to make predictions about future events. This type of AI can be used to predict things like customer behavior and trends.
Theory of Mind AI
Theory of Mind AI is still in development but has great potential. This type of AI would be able to understand human emotions and intentions. Theory of Mind AI would be able to interact with humans in a much more natural way. This is the direction AI is moving in and we are starting to see some examples of this AI.
Empath
A research project at the University of Southern California that is working on developing AI that can understand human emotions. The goal of the project is to create AI that can interact with humans in a natural way.
Aiden
An AI developed by the AI startup, Blue River Tech. Aiden is designed to be a personal assistant for people with autism. The AI is designed to help people with autism interact with the world more naturally.
Theory of Mind AI for Business
Theory of Mind AI has great potential for businesses. This type of AI would be able to understand human emotions and intentions. Theory of Mind AI would be able to interact with humans in a much more natural way. This would allow businesses to provide better customer service and create more personal relationships with their customers.
Self Aware AI
The most advanced level of AI. This type of AI would be able to understand its own emotions and intentions. Self Aware AI would be able to interact with humans in a very natural way. Although extremely conceptual the potential of self-aware AI is definitely apparent.
Sophia
A robot developed by the AI startup, Hanson Robotics. Sophia is designed to be a social robot. The AI is designed to help people interact with the world in a more natural way.
MARY
An AI developed by the AI startup, Emoshape. MARY is designed to be an emotional robot. The AI is designed to help people interact with the world in a more natural way.
Self-Aware AI for Business
Using Self Aware AI has the potential to transform businesses. This type of AI would be able to understand its own emotions and intentions. Self Aware AI would be able to interact with humans in a very natural way. This would allow businesses to provide better customer service and create more personal relationships with their customers.
The Future Of AI In Business
Reactive Machines AI is the simplest level of AI. This type of AI only performs basic operations. Limited Memory AI is a little more complex. It can store data and use it to make predictions. Theory of Mind AI is still in development but has great potential. It would be able to understand human emotions and intentions. Self Aware AI is the most advanced level of AI. It would be able to understand its own emotions and intentions.
The future of AI in business is very exciting. AI has the potential to transform businesses. It can help businesses provide better customer service, create more personal relationships with their customers, and make better predictions about future events. AI is changing the way we do business and the possibilities are endless.
